The Three Affiliated Tribes’ challenge was to bring together six independent departments scattered across New Town, ND into one shared facility. During the project the leadership of the tribe changed – they elected a new Tribal Chairman, which put the project on hold and changed the dynamic.
DESIGN CHALLENGE
After the Tribal Chairman was acclimated, HTG Architects in conjunction with Shingobee Builders, worked with a tribal architect to blend the culture of the community into the innovative building. We created a modern four-story office building that provided much-needed expansion space for the Three Affiliated Tribes’ Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO), Energy (Oil and Gas), Natural Resources, Tax, and Environmental departments. The building provides common spaces that include a reception/security desk, lobby, large flexible meeting spaces, catering kitchen and a two-story atrium incorporating cultural themes.
